What I think about leadership

What I Believe About Training: Empowering People to Profit and Grow

At Training Worx Australia, I’m committed to empowering people to profit in every sense, financially and holistically. Actual “profit” to me means leaving every interaction with others feeling they’ve gained more than I’ve taken.

Whether sharing knowledge, offering inspiration, or supporting, I aim to add value to every person’s journey, leaving me “in credit” with them. This philosophy aligns perfectly with Training Worx’s mission: “making the difficult easy” and helping people grow in ways that elevate their lives.

Training as a Path to Industry Leadership

At Training Worx, we focus on building strong leaders who can:

  • Navigate their paths
  • Inspire and guide others

Our core values are the foundation of everything we do:

  1. Our People- A People-Centric Approach: We believe in putting people first.
  2. Efficiency and Competency: Streamlining processes and ensuring skill mastery.
  3. Respect, Empathy, and Genuineness: Treating everyone with respect and integrity.

Adaptable leaders are essential in industries like mining, civil, and education. We prepare trainees to tackle challenges head-on, helping them reach new heights. By aligning vocational training with real-world needs, we foster leaders who elevate their teams and create a ripple effect of growth across industries.

In my view, everything rises and falls on leadership and communication.

The Power of Influence: “You Are Whom You Hang Around”

One powerful philosophy I embrace is: “You are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with.” This approach is central to how we train at Training Worx. The people we surround ourselves with can either lift us or hold us back, and I believe in building communities where learners can:

  • Inspire each other to grow
  • Challenge each other to be better

At Training Worx, we’re not just building skills. We’re building networks that can influence communities and industries long after the courses end. Just as mountain climbers rely on their teams to reach the summit, we want our learners to feel supported and surrounded by people who push them beyond their limits.

Knowledge Isn’t Power Without Application

I aim to empower learners with the knowledge and the drive to apply it. We all know people who say, “I have a great idea,” but far fewer act. Knowledge alone isn’t power; knowledge plus application is power.

The Magic of Training: Creating What Doesn’t Exist…Yet

Vocational training is like magic. As trainers, we help people see what they haven’t yet envisioned for themselves. It’s about:

  • Envisioning Potential: Helping learners imagine future possibilities.
  • Guided Transformation: Taking individuals from where they are now to where they want to be.
  • Creating Real-World Impact: Making what once seemed impossible possible.

Our courses guide learners toward their goals, even if they can’t fully see the destination. We help people unlock new potential in themselves, their careers, and their organisations, turning dreams into reality.

Vocational Training Is a Calling

Training is more than a profession; it’s a calling. Whenever I stand in front of a group or work one-on-one, I know I’m doing what I’m meant to do.

A mountain is challenging, but the reward is seeing someone reach the summit of their potential. Whether it’s helping someone lead confidently, master a new skill, or change their career, I’m driven by the belief that we’re shaping the future one learner at a time.

A Holistic Approach to Growth

I believe actual profit is about leaving an impact beyond monetary value. I want every learner to leave our training with the following:

  1. Knowledge and Skills: New competencies that can be applied immediately.
  2. Confidence and Self-Belief: The assurance to take on new challenges.
  3. Holistic Growth: Tools and insights for personal and professional growth.

I strive for this impact with every Training Worx course, session, and interaction. The real profit is when someone leaves feeling they owe nothing, yet they’ve gained so much they think, “I’m in credit.”
